ACTING TODAY FOR A BETTER TOMORROW

What we do today has a significant impact on the eco-systems we operate in and the future we want to build for our next generation.

Collective action and collaboration are key to unlocking the scale of impact needed, so we’re focused on working with our communities to build the future of events with sustainability as an operating value. And we’re turning what used to be dreams into reality, with Singapore EXPO becoming Asia’s most sustainable MICE venue, powered by renewable energy.

Here are some of our recent and ongoing sustainability efforts.

Achieving Net Zero by 2050

Constellar is dedicated to supporting Singapore's vision to become Asia Pacific's leading sustainable MICE destination by 2030 and achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050. Through our events and at our managed venue Singapore EXPO, we work closely with our partners, suppliers, and customers to drive impactful change across the value-chain. We are also a signatory of the Net Zero Carbon Events initiative organised by the Joint Meetings Industry Council, committed to play our role in the global eco-system to address climate change.

The Global MICE Sustainability Alliance

We joined the Global MICE Sustainability Alliance alongside Singapore Tourism Board and other key industry players to trial green initiatives and explore new solutions for green events to reduce exhibition waste and carbon footprint. Working with SACEOS, Singapore EXPO piloted a waste management methodology at our 2023 edition of BuildTech Asia, with the aim of helping event organisers and customers identify waste drivers and boundaries.

Powering Events With Renewable Energy

Singapore EXPO is currently home to the country's largest single-site rooftop solar PV system, featuring a total of 16,508 solar panels with an estimated size of eight football fields. The system is able to generate enough energy to power 4,000 3-room apartments for a year, and will enable events at our venue to be powered by renewable energy where possible. Since the system's installation, the venue has reduced its greennhouse gas emissions by 30% and cut electricity consumption by more than half.

Supporting Sustainable Travel

Supporting the country’s Net Zero emissions goal, Singapore EXPO is reinforcing its infrastructure and partnerships to support sustainable travel to the venue, including ongoing plans to develop one of the largest electric vehicle charging hubs in the eastern part of Singapore.

Supporting Sustainable Farming & Food Wastage Reduction

Our culinary team at Singapore EXPO adopts a farm-to-table approach, harvesting fresh ingredients from the venue's herb gardens and working alongside farms with sustainable practices to reduce logistical and transport-based carbon emission. The team also works closely with local suppliers in F&B, plant-based foods, eco-friendly event packaging and cutlery to lower our overall environmental impact.

Accreditations and Sustainability Reporting

Through our strong focus on sustainable building operations, we have achieved BCA Green Mark Platinum certification for our 10 exhibition halls and convention wing at Singapore EXPO. We're also strengthening our employees' skills through training and education, particularly in standards measurement, reporting and compliance, with the aim of developing a framework for sustainability reporting by 2025.
